RETURN TO ARTSYARD CENTRAL My project is a self-portrait. It comprise of four images: winter, spring, summer and fall. Each image has a background of my favorite flowers (daisies and sunflowers), an adult photograph of myself, and a short, biographical narrative.
It is my hope that these three elements within each season will give a fuller scope of my own identity to the viewer. It is my belief that identity is constructed out of an individuals interaction with her/his society as well as the continuing self-discovery in light of ones experiences that makes the process of identity continual and cyclical like the seasons. I found it to be almost impossible to describe my identity in a one composition, so I opted for the series. The viewer (or audience) would be anyone who happens to come across the images; in other words, the images are not intended for a specific time or place.
